Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site
Tuskegee, AlabamaThis site pays tribute to the legendary African American pilots who broke barriers and fought with distinction during World War II.Originally constructed in 1941 as a training base, Moton Field was the site of primary flight training for the pioneering African American pilots known as the Tuskegee Airmen. It was the only primary flight facility for African American pilot candidates in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Today, the National Park Service operates the site, which includes the restored Hangar One. Admission is free. Hangar 1 and Hangar 2 are open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
